A Bit About Me

I started working at Quad City Psychotherapy in March 2024. Prior to that, I went to graduate school at Boise State University and received a Master’s Degree in Social Work. Finding my way to social work involved enlisting in the Air Force in my early twenties as a mental health technician/substance related counselor. I worked in that capacity for 10 years, working my way up the ranks, before making the switch to civilian life as a social worker. Although I may not have taken the most direct path to becoming a psychotherapist, I believe my life experiences, travel, and work with diverse populations is a huge asset that has cultivated great empathy and understanding when it comes to my current work.

Areas of Special Interest & Training

I have a passion for working with veterans due to my background, but I also love working with adults in varying stages of life who struggle with mental health related issues. I have experience working with adults and teens experiencing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, phase of life issues, trauma, and addiction. I enjoy incorporating techniques from Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. I also enjoy incorporating crafts and artistic activities into my work with teens, especially with those having a harder time opening up and expressing themselves in words. I put a lot of emphasis on building the client-therapist relationship and hope my calm and soothing energy will make many people feel safe, accepted, and supported through our work together.

The Buddhist Philosopher Nichiren Daishonin once said, “Enjoy what there is to enjoy, suffer what there is to suffer. Regard both suffering and joy as facts of life…” Although we can’t prevent suffering or pain from happening, I hope to help people learn to bring more awareness and balance into their life.
